Charline and James had a New Year’s Eve to remember in 2018 as it was the day they chose to cement their commitment to one another, and Wishing Wells Creative was proud to be asked to capture it all for the couple's wedding video.
Charline and James met at work 14 years ago, and although Charline took a little bit of persuasion to say yes to that first date, as James said in his speech: “it was the best decision she ever made!”
This fun loving couple had everything planned out and certainly weren’t camera-shy, as Charline was also being filmed for the hit TV show “Say Yes To The Dress Lancashire” after choosing her dream Stella York gown, adorned with lace sleeves, at the stunning Ava Rose Hamilton bridal boutique in Colne.
Charline got ready at home, ably assisted by her bridesmaids, pageboys and flower girl - with Beauty by Becca and Hair by Jodie Bloomer on hair and make up duties.
James and his groomsmen took advantage of James’ mum’s hospitality, dressing in their tweed suits from Bridgewater Menswear and affixing their buttonholes from Sam Williams Flowers, before heading to Silsden’s St Stephen’s church, to await guests and the arrival of the bridal party.
Before leaving for church in Charline and James’ own wedding car, a vintage white VW Beetle adorned with greenery to match the wedding flowers, Charline’s Dad was able to see his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time - a shot we love from the wedding video!
The church at St Stephen’s was decorated for Christmas and there was a lovely, warm, festive feel to the whole ceremony, with the couple opting for Christmas Carols rather than traditional hymns.
Once the ceremony was over, we accompanied the brand new Mr & Mrs Emmott for a small video and photography shoot at Hellifield train station, before continuing to the wedding reception at the wonderfully homely Falcon Manor.
Magician Mark Waddington astounded guests and the couple alike with his jaw-dropping tricks and comedy and photographer Paul Chantrey assembled the full wedding party in the gardens of the venue to capture the group shots.
Before dinner, we whisked James and Charline aways for a few moments to themselves, and captured some beautiful footage of the couple being romantic - but also having incredible fun with each other.
James and Charline’s relationship is definitely more about laughing together than being ‘lovey-dovey’ - they even commented about it on the day - but with the shots we got of the couple during their portrait shoot you’d never have guessed; and Charline looked simply stunning, producing some very sultry looks for the camera - before James had her burst out laughing again with an impromptu demonstration of ‘Baby Shark'!
The speeches were touching, funny and raucous in places! With Best Man Paul having an ace up his sleeve to try and stop James from heckling him - all to no avail though and the blackmail-worthy image still made an appearance to close the speeches!
James didn’t mind too much though as he ended up winning the speech-timing sweepstake the ushers had been running with the guests!

After dinner, more portraits were taken on Falcon Manor’s grand staircase and evening guests began to arrive.
Everyone had fun with the home-made photo booth and guest book before Charline and James were welcomed into the hall to cut their beautiful semi-naked cake from All the Kings Cakes and dance their first dance - where, once the guests had joined them, Charline made a beeline for her Dad, to finish off the dance with.
The venue provided a DJ to keep the party going right through until the New Year bells chimed and James and Charline started 2019 in absolute style!
It was a pleasure to capture this wedding day and I wish Charline & James a truly wonderful marriage together.
